I loved having the opportunity to deliver a TED talk at TEDxCharlotte in October 2016. My idea? That the light bulb wasn’t actually a “Light Bulb Moment”.
The light bulb is an intimidating symbol for ideas. Ideas are not impulsive, unpredictable, switch-flipping bursts of brilliance. They are, instead, the product of diligence, exploration, and collaborative thinking. I want people to learn that ideas aren’t EUREKA moments; they come from observation, experience, and good ole problem solving, and I hope people left my talk convinced that they have the ability to initiate the kind of thinking that generates “good” ideas.
