Street Prints

I have always loved looking down. When I lived in New York City this habit produced a large collection of rusty metal and other ephemera — aka, treasures. While taking a walk in Charlotte one day, I started noticing the cracks and textures in the street and sidewalk and had a sudden desire to capture them in a print.

After some trial and error, I developed a process using flexible gelatin plates to pick up the impression of the street. In my art, I’m always working to abandon perfectionism and these Street Prints help me do just that — each one is a surprise thanks to the unpredictable textures of the asphalt.
