Balance

This collection was born during a time that felt dramatically more unbalanced than usual — Black lives being taken by police, the shock of Covid and lockdown, incessant mass shootings, an election unprecedented in its stakes. Balance seemed impossible.

Early in the pandemic, the phrase “flatten the curve” entered the lexicon, and suddenly all I could do was create curves. Eventually I began stacking them in increasingly impossible configurations — impossible in real life, perhaps, but in the studio, anything was possible. Even balance.
