Portals

As children, we are expected to believe in magic, but as adults we are expected to leave that foolishness behind. Yet the concept of a portal never stops being seductive. When we imagine a magic portal, we immediately wonder where it leads. It suggests limitless possibilities, that we have the ability to shape our own futures.

In this collection, I use the concept of portals — each one a distinct visual metaphor for change — to explore this pull toward possibility. Every painting invites the viewer to consider not just where it might lead, but where they would like it to lead. Click on any image to see it at full size.
