You guys. I have news. Really big crazy amazing news. A gelatin monotype print of mine, Wall Dive, has been selected for the ArtPop Charlotte class of 2020! Starting in mid-January, Wall Dive will be displayed on billboards, newsstands, airport charging stations, shopping center digital kiosks, and more all year!

The first billboard location will be on I-77, just north of the LaSalle St. exit. I believe it will be on the left side of the highway, but visible to northbound traffic. Here’s a map link for you, and I’ll share photos as soon as I can!

It is currently being shown on digital billboards and kiosks at Ballantyne Village, Rea Farms, Waverly, and the Legacy Union building skybridge, uptown.

And later in the year it will be on newsstands uptown as well as charging stations located throughout the Charlotte Airport.

I’m not gonna lie — this is one of the most exciting things to happen since I shifted from graphic design to being a full time artist. I’m so grateful, so humbled, and so bananas excited!

Public art is one of my favorite things. It enables you to stumble upon art in unlikely places — on your commute, walking to lunch, going to the movies, grabbing a newspaper. You don’t have to schedule time to visit a museum or a gallery; you don’t have to even like it! But one thing I’m sure of: exposure to art in any way, anyplace, anytime is a good thing. It is always a good thing. And getting to contribute public art to a city that is really beginning to understand the value of public art? Yeah, that’s definitely a good thing.

I owe people some giant thank yous: First and foremost to Adams Outdoor Advertising of Charlotte for your commitment to public art and for generously providing Charlotte artists with giant canvases for 7 years running. To Awedience Media for sharing our art on digital displays in gorgeous community spaces. To Center City Partners for the amazing newsstand displays. To the anonymous donor who enables our work to be at the Charlotte Airport. And last, but definitely not least, to Wendy Hickey for creating ArtPop Charlotte, and for supporting so many artists in so many loving ways. We are so lucky to have you in Charlotte.
