Signal Cabinet Wraps

By art, color, design, public artNo Comments

Charlotte is just beginning to dip its toe in the world of Signal Cabinet wraps and I’m so proud to have created the first ones on display! The first one is in South End, on the corner of South & East Boulevards, right next to Grace Covenant Church. It’s called Intersectional, to pay homage to the crossroads where it is located. Where East meets West, South meets North, haves meet have nots, etc. The art is was created with watercolor and ink.   The second one is on the corner of Thomas and Central Ave, next to Workman’s Friend. 2…

Colorized History

By color, design, photos, retro vintage ephemera7 Comments

I just discovered this treasure trove of colorized photos from the past, and I have spent the better part of today looking at the photos there. Many (most?) of them were done by two artists: Mads Madsen, from Denmark, and  British artist Jordan Lloyd. Here are a few to whet your appetite. But do yourself a favor and check them all out. Beloved Street Art

Their site’s tagline is We declare the world as our canvas, which just makes me happy. And so grateful that these folks are out there forcing us to look at the world differently. Here are a few of my favorites, but really — go look at them all. You won’t be sorry. (Thanks for the link, Bo!)

Zoku Pops!

By color, design, food2 Comments

Have you seen this yet? The super speedy popsicle maker called Zoku? Zoe and Lucy got one for their birthday and we are in LURVE with it. Seriously, you can make a batch of homemade fancy pops in less than 10 minutes. And because of the super fast freezy magic, they can even be well designed pops! Rad, right? So far we have made Strawberry Cherry, Raspberry Lemonade, and Chocolate Milk pops. On the horizon are Cucumber Chili, Avocado, and Watermelon Mint. What else should we make? What kind would you make?

Love love these new bathroom supplies from Target. They look like candy. I think my day would kick off quite happy if my bathroom were filled with these, don’t you? (You can try Target online, but I couldn’t find them there. Might just have to go to the store. Darn.)
