Retro fantasticness from Max Dalton — a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off board game. Created for an art exhibit honoring our Gen-X patron saint, John Hughes. Click the images for bigger. Click here to see the whole set. (Found on Pinterest — thanks Ward!)
It’s a wrap, y’all. Adios 2010, hello 2011. Here in UpsideUp land, we’re usually getting ready for our annual New Year’s bash, but this year we’ve got the plague and are looking instead at ringing this one in with a string of movies. One thing’s for sure, though, we will still be making collards and black eyed peas. I’m even looking forward to seeing how the recipe works for 4 people as opposed to the 180 I usually cook for! And as my annual gift to you, the awesome people who live in my computer, I bring you once again…
I had to include the entire name in my post title up there because I cannot get it out of my head. And I’m not even much of a sweets person. Which is probably why I’m so excited about these — because I am very much of an avocado person. And also a chartreuse person. And also a cupcakes with not too much icing on them person. Also I love the word Buttercream. It’s on my desert island list of words. As if all that weren’t enough for me to tell you about these intriguing cupcakes, get this: the idea…
I love love love these camera lens coffee mugs from Photojojo. They’ve had the Canon lens for a while, but they just added my beloved Nikon to their offerings. It would make my morning coffee so much more interesting. (Thanks Darren Rowse.)
I love it. The Poke has re-imagined The Mr. Men series and created a new “book” based on the tv show Mad Men. Two retro tastes that taste great together. I hope they actually create the whole series! (Thanks kdiddy and MamaPop!)
Well folks. It’s official. We have been in our LEAP office for a full year now, so we decided “what the heck, let’s put some signs up!” There are many advantages to being tucked away in our sweet, squat little 1950s building, but we think our clients (and more importantly, our potential clients) will appreciate us making it a little easier to find our office. What can I say, we’re givers. So now you have no excuse not to visit us. And as soon as the Diamond reopens across the street, just give us a shout as you’re pulling in…
I’m loving these notebook paper inspired t-shirts from E for Effort (a collaboration between cool Brooklyn artists Beka Goedde and Rachel Ostrow) and Artware Editions. Each one is hand silkscreened, although I’m afraid that once I had one, I’d been tempted to get a sharpie out and write a note to my BFF during study hall. On the other hand, that might not be a bad thing. Available for kids, grownups and even tiny kids. And, just in case your house isn’t already overrun by cool tote bags, there’s one of those too. Check them all out and get one here. Thanks…
So I was exploring the internets, looking for cool music tshirts for Zoe and Lucy, and this popped up: a Vampire Weekend earflap hat. So retro rad. Don’t you think I should get two? Me too! Meanwhile, I found a whole site full of great band merch! Check it ALL out.
Have you seen this yet? The super speedy popsicle maker called Zoku? Zoe and Lucy got one for their birthday and we are in LURVE with it. Seriously, you can make a batch of homemade fancy pops in less than 10 minutes. And because of the super fast freezy magic, they can even be well designed pops! Rad, right? So far we have made Strawberry Cherry, Raspberry Lemonade, and Chocolate Milk pops. On the horizon are Cucumber Chili, Avocado, and Watermelon Mint. What else should we make? What kind would you make?
Sit down friends. I have something great to show you. Really really great. It’s a new iPhone app called Paper Town Friends created by clever Robin Rosenthal. Paper Town Friends features a bunch of paper cut-out characters for you to dress with their very own paper cut-out clothes and hats and accessories. Robin cut out by hand all the tiny clothes and shoes and hats in the app. And get this — they’re even tiny in real life! Teeny crocs — with holes! A wee shriner’s fez! Baby batik tunics! It’s all just so freakin adorable. (click for bigger) And I love…
