If any of you are wondering why I don’t get more done on any given day, I’d like to offer up this video as Exhibit A: What I’m Up Against. (Also, feel free to note that I may soon begin to drive you nuts with my newfound YouTube prowess.)

Dutch just posted a humongous list of YouTube videos he lets Juniper watch. Needless to say, it’s an amazing list filled with interesting creative stuff. One of the videos is an old Electric Company piece where kids sing along to New York City signage, pinpointing specific words to create a perfectly surrealist (if not actually surreal) song. I can’t figure out how to embed a YouTube video in my blog, so you’ll just have to click on the link. Update: I figured out how to embed. Here’s the video: Months ago, when it was first released, I bought the boxed…

File under: Things I can’t imagine thinking of, even once I’ve seen them

By sites to see2 Comments

You know how sometimes someone sends you a link to something on the internets and you look at it and think, “Man. If I wasn’t spending all my time reading blogs, I could have thought of that!” That happens to me a lot. Like cohesive bubble wrap (it sticks to itself — like Saran Wrap with bubbles!). Holy crap, that’s a good idea. Anyhoo, the link I’m about to give you does not qualify as something I could have thought of. Here you will find a three-dimensional “summary” of the plot of the movie Fight Club. Rendered in Legos. Time…

Art Bruts, part 3

By monkeys4 Comments

I’m sure you’re bored by now with my incessant droning on about Zoe and Lucy and their lack of interest in art (like here and then here). So I wanted to offer this update as a straighten your back and puff out your chest expression of my sheepish pride. They have suddenly started drawing people, and they are creating these masterpieces of families, not just one person per sheet of paper. That’s Lucy’s above. It’s our family, all floating around Papa. She’s also been drawing Gay-Gay and Pop, Baby Tess, Papa when he was a little boy, Humpty Dumpty, and…

Preciousness

By monkeys, moving

At 12:45 today, I had just finished making lunch for Zoe and Lucy when we got a call from the scheduling service that someone wanted to see our house, today, from 2:00-3:00. I was conflicted about this since (a) we’re already under contract and anything else at this point is insurance, or, gravy, and (b) Zoe seemed tired at the park this morning and I really wanted the girls to be able to take a nap today if they wanted to. Anyway, I told the people they could come from 2:30-3:30 instead, and figured we’d just put the girls to…

The corner of Thomas and School

So we made an offer. Then they counter offered. Then we counter offered their counter offer. Then they counter offered our counter offer of their counter offer saying “this is the price it needs to be for us.” Then we counter offered their counter offer of our counter offer of their counter offer saying, “this is the price it needs to be for us.” Then. They came back to us with the number we really wanted all along. (O the love we have for our clever clever realtor.) As of today we will be under contract.

Things to say “Hooray” about

By movingOne Comment

1. We accepted the offer on our house and we’re under contract! Thanks everyone for those powerful “Sell Your Freakin House Quick!” vibes. You’re so strong! 2. We’ve made an offer on a house in Charlotte. They’ve counter offered. We’ve counter offered their counter offer. More later as events warrant and as I can sort out all those counters and offers. 3. My site meter has just crawled to over 1000 hits in about 2 1/2 months. Thanks y’all! Once we’re settled in a new house, I hope to be more writer-y and less update-y. Or at least to give…
